Can ChatGPT replace a Partner Visa Expert?

Can I use Artificial Intelligence to apply for my Partner Visa?

With the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI), you may be wondering if it’s worth seeking advice from a professional or if there’s a program that you can use from the comfort of your home.

We asked “How do I apply for an Australian Partner Visa?” on a popular AI website known as ChatGPT.

This is what it said:

“To apply for an Australian Partner Visa, you can follow these steps:

  1. Determine eligibility: Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria for the Partner Visa, such as being in a committed relationship with an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Gather required documents: You and your partner will need to provide supporting documentation to demonstrate your relationship and eligibility for the visa. This may include proof of identity, financial and personal information, and evidence of your relationship.
  3. Complete the online application form: Submit the online application form through the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) website, including your personal details and supporting documentation.
  4. Pay the visa fee: Pay the required visa fee as indicated on the DHA website.
  5. Wait for processing: The DHA will assess your application and may request additional information or an interview. Wait for the outcome of your application.

Note: This information is current as of 2023 and is subject to change. It’s always recommended to check the latest information on the DHA website or seek advice from a Registered Migration Agent.”

We would be lying if we said that’s not impressive, but it’s obvious that two key pieces are missing.

First, if you’ve ever had to navigate an automated phone system, you know it’s often easier, clearer, and less stressful to just speak with a person.

Artificial Intelligence is impressive, but it can’t replace that human connection.

Second, every situation is unique. There is no one list of evidence that guarantees success for every couple.

Partner Visas can be very subjective. The best way to find out what evidence to provide in your application is to seek help from someone qualified who has experience with putting together an application.

So can you use AI to replace your Migration Agent?

As pointed out by Chat GPT itself, it’s best to seek professional advice to ensure you have the most relevant and correct information.
