Yes, the Partner Visa application charge is quite hefty. As of 1 July, 2025 the cost is $9,365.
We believe a Partner Visa is worth the cost. So, what do you actually get for your money?
The Partner Visa is a two-stage visa process that leads to permanent residence unlike some skilled or student visas (which do not have a pathway to permanent residency).
The Partner Visa secures a future for you and your partner together in Australia. It removes the uncertainty of potentially being stuck apart or needing to continue applying for new visas to be together.
The Visa Application Charge of $9,365 covers both the Temporary Visa (Stage 1) and Permanent Visa (Stage 2). It’s paid as one lump sum payment at lodgement of the 1st Stage.
So yes, the $9,365 may seem expensive now, however, this is less than other visa pathways with multiple stages that have an application fee with each lodgement.
With a Partner Visa you will also get access to healthcare (which is known as Medicare) and full working rights. The timing of when you’ll be granted these rights depends on which Partner Visa pathway applies to you.
